John Hamilton brings more than four decades of broad and extensive experience to the family law department of the Ciccarelli Law Firm. He is recognized as an aggressive, detail-oriented, and thoroughly prepared advocate. His goal is to achieve the best possible outcome for each client, no matter how small or large the case.
John graduated from the Delaware Law School of Widener University and passed the Pennsylvania Bar exam in 1979. He then spent three years with the tax department of the international accounting firm of KPMG in their Atlanta, Georgia office. There he dealt with federal tax compliance, planning and IRS audits for high-income individuals, partnerships, and corporations. At that time, he completed his LLM in Taxation at Emory University School of Law and achieved his credential in Pennsylvania as a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive).
Upon returning to the Philadelphia area in 1983, John spent three years as an Assistant District Attorney in Delaware County, where he gained valuable courtroom experience prosecuting bench and jury trials. In 1987 he began devoting all of his time to his private law practice, including as an injury lawyer in Philadelphia. John’s broad education, training, and experience have proven to be valuable tools in his practice focus on family law, estate probate and planning, and tax compliance.
John has practiced in all counties in southeast Pennsylvania, the federal district court, and the tax court. He is a U.S. Army veteran, having been deployed overseas in 1972-73. He is conversational in Spanish and lives with his wife and daughter in Swarthmore
